Ad creative: what should you check before a new test?
A useful creative test examines a reason to buy. Start with a customer's question, choose the evidence, and define the metric before production.
Start with the customer's question
Write down what prevents a purchase: unclear use, doubts about fit, price comparisons, or a lack of trust. Each version should test one primary hypothesis. A different background color alone is not a new reason to buy.
Hook, evidence, and offer
The hook should raise a relevant question. A product demonstration or verifiable feature should help answer it. Keep the offer consistent with the page. A promise the product cannot meet may improve clicks while attracting less suitable customers.
Keep a testing record
- Write down the hypothesis and target customer situation.
- Choose a static ad or video around the message.
- Label the version and start date.
- Compare ad response with purchases and CAC.
- Use an unanswered question to guide the next iteration.
What Andromeda does not prove
Meta's description of Andromeda describes an ad retrieval system. It does not support claims that creative accounts for a fixed share of success, or that more production guarantees the right customer.
